1962
In 1926 sound was introduced to film, this meant that you could have people talking and music in them. An artist from that time was George Olsen and he wrote songs like ‘The girl friend’. Films like this where called talkies and that is because they where not silent films. People would go down to local cinemas to listen and watch. This was a big stride for the music and sound in general.
1950
In the 1950 there was a big star and his name is Elvis Presley he is one of the most iconic music singers of all time. People say that he is the king of rock and roll he came in to play in early 1950’s and the main geographic audience was teenagers it became a part of ever day life to listen to music. Some of his famous songs include all shook up 1957 and Hound dog 1956.
1960's
In the 1960’s there was a big band rising called ‘The Beatles’. One of Beatles major hits was ‘A hard days night 1964 and this was an iconic music video because it change the way we make music videos today. The song played over the action of a film and they used up to 6 camera and was allowed to try zooms and different angles this made it more cinematic and has influenced a lot of things since then.
1980's
In the 1980’s a new song was born and it was called Bohemian Rhapsody. They released the song in 1975 but only became popular when they released a music video to it in 1980 and has become one of there most famous songs.
MTV
In 1981 ‘MTV’ (music television) was created. They did this to show off music videos for people to watch and is still going on today with chart updates and singles being released on a daily basis.
1982
In 1982 Michael Jackson released his new hit song ‘Thriller’. The music video to this song was like a little short movie with good cinematography and editing use. This change what we thing of music videos and they started using them as promotional techniques and making them high budget.
Music now a days
Music now a days are high budget but are only the length of the song and not short movies like Michael Jackson's 'Thriller' but still lots of money are spent on them because it is a big market becuase a lot of people listen to music especially teenagers.
